Markus Zabel, MD
Markus Zabel, MD, is the Head of Clinical Electrophysiology at the University Hospital Goettingen, Heart Center, Germany and associate professor of medicine. He received his medical training at the Medical Schools of Frankfurt and Freiburg, Germany. He received a Merck International Fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology and worked with Dr. Raymond Woosley at Georgetown University Medical School. In 1994, he received the Young Investigator Award from the North American Society for Pacing and Electrophysiology. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine and Cardiology.
His research interests are in the area of risk stratification for sudden cardiac death, arrhythmogenic mechanisms regarding repolarization and the effects of antiarrhythmic drugs. He is a member of the German Cardiac Society, the European Society of Cardiology and European Heart Rhythm Association (EHRA) and the Heart Rhythm Society (HRS).
